I started Mama Tembo by creating handmade items for myself and my babies at home. Initially, I wanted functional, trendy items for my kids that were cost effective so I made them myself! These items then became shower gifts as my friends and family members started having babies of their own. After a few special requests to make more, I decided to open my shop to share with everyone! When I became a birth doula, my shop expanded to creating birth boxes to share resources, tips and my handmade baby items. My goal was always to create affordable, high-quality handmade items and share resources that are supported from doulas and moms across the nation.

I have loved making items for families, and although that feeling of support is there, my passion for helping moms, families and communities still had a missing piece; that’s where becoming a birth doula and investing in Third Place comes in! I have shifted from creating items to bringing people together because that’s what we all need. Third Place is for people right here in our community. We can still share resources and learn and grow from each other, but the main goal of Third Place is to provide a space that brings our community together. I can’t wait to share this space with you!
