Hi! My name is Sarah Melius and I’m a Birth Doula and Community Support Worker in Newaygo County. My family had lived in northern Michigan for the past ten years, and recently made the move back to my hometown in Fremont, MI. I have five amazing children; two girls and three boys, a husband, two dogs, and a cat.
When I’m home you can find me wrapped up in the chaos of our family. As a family we enjoy camping, going to parks, riding bikes, and reading books. When I’m not home I am a supervisor of mental health supporting local schools.
I love learning and educating. I enjoy empowering and encouraging others. I feel very passionate about advocating for people, especially mothers. I started my shop, Mama Tembo, because I wanted to share a product that supports moms and their families. I love it, but making products for new mothers wasn’t enough. As a Birth Doula I get the opportunity to support moms through the beautiful and, at times, confusing and difficult process of birth. Through Third Place, we can provide a place for belonging where all are welcome. I believe we can do so much as a community together.
