My Mission

Advocate · Educate · Re-Power · Encourage

Advocate
You are starting your own unique childbirth journey.  I will be your mirror, reflecting your desires for labor and delivery.  I will not inject my own biases; I am here for you.

Educate
With so much information out there about childbirth, I will help you understand the risks and benefits of all your options.  Together we will create an individualized birth plan to fit your wants and needs.

Re-power
I want you to feel comfortable and confident with reaching your birth goals.  Labor is unpredictable, but I will fill your toolbox with resources for you and your partner to feel the empowerment you have, and feel prepared for your birth.

Encourage
You’ve got this! As a birth doula, I will encourage you through your birth while providing relaxation tips, affirmation, and helping to meet physical and emotional needs along the way.  I’m here to support you and your partner as your bring your beautiful baby(ies) into this world.

What is a Birth Doula?

According to the Center for the Childbearing Year, “a doula is a labor support professional who “mothers the mother” during childbirth, as well as during pregnancy and in the early weeks postpartum.”

Through evidence-based information, doulas give emotional support and offers comfort measures to help relax the mother during her birth.

A doula is there to support you and your choices.

A Doula:

  • Provides evidence-based information.

  • Supports you and your choices.

  • Helps prepare you for birth.

  • Assists in creating a birth plan.

  • Supports partners and facilitates everyone’s participation at your birth.

  • Provides comfort measures during labor.

  • Can support you at home with early labor.

  • Advocates for your birth plan.

  • Provides early postpartum support and MORE!

A Doula Does NOT:

  • Replace other members of your birth experience such as your partner, your mother, or another support person.

  • Provide medical care.

  • Critique your birth choices (epidural, at home, in a hospital, planned C-section), but DOES support you to ensure your wishes are being met and helps you prepare for your birth experience.
